My name is Jon Roop and I am honored to serve as the senior high principal for the De Soto #73 School District. I am a proud alumni of De Soto High School (Class of 2004). After high school I attended Westminster College where I played four years of college football and earned my BS in Secondary Education.
After graduating college in 2008 I returned to the Jefferson County area and began my teaching and coaching career at Grandview High School. It was also during my time at Grandview when I earned my masters in Educational Administration. In the fall of 2012 I returned to De Soto and taught 7th grade Geography and 8th grade American History. While at De Soto Junior High I served as a department chair, varsity football coach, junior high track coach, and student council sponsor.
Following the 2017-2018 school year I was hired at Herculaneum High School to serve as the High School Assistant Principal and District Activities Director. During my time in the Dunklin R-5 School District I began pursuing my Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership. After two years as a Blackcat, I returned to DHS where I served as the Activities Director from 2020-2023.
My wife (Samantha) and I have two sons (Jon and Jaxon) and three dogs (Maggie, Chloe, and Maverick). In my free time I enjoy working on my family's grain and hay farms, hunting, fishing, traveling, and going to sporting events or taking in a concert.
Onward, Dragons!
